Avengers Assemble

Allow me to indulge for a moment in something totally unrelated to music.

I have just had the pleasure of being reduced to a cackling adolescent by the sheer balls out awesomeness of the Avengers. Whether it was Thor facing off against the Hulk, Iron Man finding his true power, Captain America captaining the living jazz out of everyone, Black Widow showing off her interrogation skills or Hawkeye jumping off a building, there was just so much to be happy about. Watch with glee as Ruffalo gets arguably the greatest  HERO moment in recent memory. A truly fantastic way to kick off the summer blockbuster season to prepare us for the arrival of Prometheus and The Dark Knight Rises!!

In between these cinema trips I will be playing gigs hopefully all over the shop. Also in the works is a new music video for my song Good Year. I’ll be stretching my creative urges and dabbling in animation. Not me personally but the very talented Matthew Cooper will be. Check out his work here.

I’ve also been inspired by listening to Fink and the recent stormy weather into writing a new song called English Rain. Open D tuning and a whole lot of finger picking people. Until next time….If in doubt, HULK OUT!

The One I Love

Here is a video of me performing at The Under the Influence Night at the Boogaloo. What a great night in a rough diamond of a venue up in the north of London.

Hotel Rooms

Hotel rooms with City views,
Turned down beds and pay per view.
Lost souls and lonely ghosts,
Brushing shoulders with you.

Hotel rooms with faded scars,
Dusty bibles and mini bars.
Room service and strange hours,
Bodies move to the sounds of cars.

Hotel rooms with locked doors,
Empty suits on the floor.
You get what you paid for,
Nothing less, nothing more.

New lyrics here for a song I wrote late at night/early in the morning whilst watching Young Adult. A film which is good but deeply sad in cutting manner. Charlize Theron has really upped her game since Aeon Flux! Now we have Prometheus to look forward to this summer amongst other things. On the music front things seem quiet to me today although I have a interview coming out soon and we’re releasing some songs on iTunes in a week or so and I have two gigs coming up on the 15th (Proud, Camden) and 21st (AAA, Kensington)……ok, so not exactly quiet then……maybe I should be doing something constructive….first though, some food…

Marinate a  Chicken breast in limejuice, splash of fish sauce and soy sauce.
Chop up red chilli, ginger (peel it with the edge of a spoon, Jason Mraz taught me that), coriander and a clove of garlic.
Fry the chicken breast, add chilli, coriander, ginger and garlic when the chicken has been frying for a while so as not to burn them.
Add boiling water to bulger wheat, let it sit for five mins…..then cook in frying pan you’ve cooked the chicken in so as to soak up the flavour.

Just been shown a sesame street youtube video….Snuffleuffagus rocks…enough said.
